Words That Confuse Us Usually
'English is a crazy language.' once G.B. Shaw had claimed. We don't feel that in normal conditions. In fact, once we are in a situation where we see the words those we've never seen before we start guessing the pronunciation of them that are analogous to other words having similar letter order. In most cases that method proves handy. But same method proves to be embarrassing in many cases. That becomes the situation which reminds us G.B. Shaw once again.
Here are some reminders of G.B.Shaw:
1. Epitome- pronounced as epitumee- standard or perfect example.
2. Dengue- pronounced as deng-gee(gue)- a disease with high fever.
3. Charade- pronounced as shu'raad- travesty, mockery, parody, barlesque, lampoon, spoof, sendup.
4. Asthma- pronounced as as-mu -respiration allergy.
5. Hearth- pronounced as haath- fire palce.
6. Facade - fu'saad - front of building, frontage; showy misrepresentation to conceal something.
7. Equation- ikwey-zhun and so on.
I will be posting more interesting words. Keep visiting. See You...
